Each Public Relations Director with BPM-PR Firm is a valued quality assurance gatekeeper, day-to-day business manager for our boutique PR firm, and positive company culture enforcer. Someone who knows the ins and outs of Public Relations and can provide to our in-house Account Executives strong account leadership and creativity-driven guidance. Developing campaigns with assigned teams and closely monitoring their execution and results through to success. The PR Director will report directly to the CEO and work side‐by‐side with VP’s. Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills, strong presentation skills, and a wealth of general business PR knowledge surrounding, authors, experts, consumer products, technology, and corporate communications. Strong existing media relationships and network a must.
Applicants must have established media contacts, have a wealth of experience across a multitude of industries, and experience in PR management.
Responsibilities Include:
- Serve as senior contact for clients, with an in-depth knowledge of clients’ business, develop strategies for implementing successful client Public Relations and growth programs
- Provide strategic guidance to Account Executives on an ongoing basis; anticipate and address client needs
- Exhibit strong communication and presentation skills to effectively articulate ideas to clients, colleagues, and others
- Troubleshoot clients’ problems as they arise; seek senior management input whenever appropriate
- Motivate team members by promptly reviewing work and providing constructive feedback; encourage teams to take advantage of training and development opportunities
- Help account team(s) work effectively and in the best interests of the client(s); maximize agency’s network of resources to enhance client services
- Take a leadership role in business development with presenting opportunities for new business; work with CEO and business development associates to identify and outreach to potential sales prospects
- Work with Accounting Team to ensure sign off on Account Executive expense reports and that budget standards are met for all projects
- Ensure that weekly/monthly media placement standards are met for each client
- Review and ensure that Account Executives and support staff are maintaining project management workrooms
- Identify key team members and provide feedback to human resources and senior management on promotion suggestions
- Guidance on media research and introductions for account Executives to new key media relationships to ensure PR firms continued success
- Coach junior staff in the management of media relationships, and help them to develop a solid understanding of media relations strategies
- Ensure client satisfaction and client retention levels are maintained for effective growth
- Provide ongoing suggestions for company growth and process improvement when needed
Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field
- At least 5 to 7 years of agency public relations experience, as well as account responsibility for large, multi-discipline client relationships
- Must have experience across a multitude of industries within PR
- Broad-based exposure to all skill areas, including proposal planning, writing and presentations, media relations, and consultative selling
- Strong multifaceted network and wealth of direct relationship media contact a must
- 5-7+ years managing a mid-sized team
- Strong and steady history of large scale media placements
